What Happens in Beginning Woodworking Class Box Making Day 1

Using box making as the subject or project in our Beginning Woodworking Classes [ https://schoolofwoodwork.com/events/c...] is a not just fun and challenging, it's kind of the ideal project to teach some basic.. and not-so-basic skills:

On Day 1 of the woodworking class students learn:

- to cut mitres (accurately!),
- make rabbeted inset bottoms,
- use color,
- cut mitre splines
- resaw lumber

The students go on to learn everything they need to finish of this project AND get a great foundation for moving on to bigger projects like:

- Making Custom Cabinets
- Creating custom tables
- Turning

and more.

Many of our students are coming in from other parts of Florida, Georgia and around the country.

If you're not familiar with the Florida School of Woodwork and the city of Tampa - you're in for a treat if you come to take a beginning woodworking or box making or turning course.

The School is in the heart of the "cool" part of the City in an art deco building just north of downtown. We're steps from the Tampa RiverWalk, tons of restaurants and hotels. We're just about 90 minutes from Orlando and Disney World, and about 45 minutes from the best beaches in the country

One popular itinerary for students travelling in is to take a week long beginners class, then spend their weekend playing in downtown Tampa or enjoying area attractions. (Busch Gardens is close too!)

The Box Making beginning woodwork course is usually taught by Kate Swann, the owner and lead instructor. Kate is an amazing artist and woodworker - check out the website to see her work - but is also a great instructor.
